APWA 2021 Project of the Year

APWA 2021 Project of the Year

HILGARTWILSON worked with KE&G Construction and the Town of Miami to rehabilitate the Town’s 100-year-old sewer system. Wastewater Improvements Phases 3-5 won the APWA Arizona Chapter’s Project of the Year in the Small Cities/Rural Communities Environment category at this year’s virtual statewide conference.
For the overall project, we were the program manager for the replacement of 64,000 LF of 8-inch to 15-inch sanitary sewer, influent pump station upgrades, a new grit separator, and a new septic receiving station installation. Our water/wastewater infrastructure team, led by Mark Ipson, aided in the acquisition of $24 million in funding from WIFA, USDA-RD, CDBG, and EPA. We coordinated and reviewed over 200 legal descriptions, exhibits, and title reports for sewer easement acquisitions. For Phases 3 through 5, we were selected to provide full construction management services. Miami’s Town Manager Micah Guadet nominated the project for the award and the APWA Arizona Chapter Awards Committee selected the winner.
