Water Resources Engineer

HILGARTWILSON, a civil engineering, planning, land surveying, environmental services, and construction management firm, has an immediate opening for a Water Resources Engineer to become a part of our growing civil engineering design team involved in a variety of private and public sector projects We are seeking individuals with sound technical skills, strong communication skills and enthusiasm to join our successful and growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, calculations and design
  • Prepares (and/or responsible for) plans and specifications
  • Calculates quantities and prepare engineering estimates
  • Perform floodplain mapping and delineations
  • Evaluate drainage issues and develop creative solutions
  • Help develop drainage master plans
  • Design drainage facilities including culverts, storm drains, and more
  • Prepares technical reports, letters, and memos for development of projects
  • Assist in client contact and communications for projects and tasks.
  • Attend client meetings
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Other assignments as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in AZ or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and hydrologic and hydraulics modeling software
  • Experience with local municipal design methods, plan preparation, standards and specifications is desirable
  • Experience with hydraulics & hydrology modeling using software such as: StormCAD, HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS and HY-8
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Displays sound supervisory, organizational, strong judgment and technical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, quality work and client service
  • Self-motivated and able to manage and meet multiple critical deadlines
